Champ188 Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Redfins are awful. Hooks and hardware on them suck. Eight out of 10 won't run right. Complete junk. Wouldn't waste my money.
tapout Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 True, not sure why I mentioned a redfin at all . As I read this I can't believe all the stuff I forget to use. Not enough room on the front deck and not enough days on the water so I find myself sticking to the basics. I'd like to thank my FUTURE sponsers: Falcon Rods, Jewel Bait Co, and Seagar

I agree (even though you are being sarcastic). I know a lot of you guys like them but I think there are better options that will run true out of the pack. Aka Jackall Mikey and others. At about $7 a bait and having to buy 5 to get one that works right that ONE bait turns out to be $35 bucks. I have some redfins but they are just to finicky for my taste. I might have to go tinker with them some more even though Babler in the past has said not too. At this point I want to tame the beast that is the redfin.
Bill Babler Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Really the only thing much to add and I apologize if I missed it is Flambeau Zbart boxes. There are none better made. And I'm not on their pro-staff. Kind of Gun Shy about recommending anything ever again http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

Don't you know that buying nice gear automatically makes you guilty of ... um, guilty of ... wait a minute, guilty of NOTHING except being wise because you use yours every day to make your living. Thanks. "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." George Carlin "The only money ever wasted is money never spent." Me.

Vernon, They're actually called Flambeau Zerust boxes. Here's a Tackle Warehouse link to them. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Flambeau_Zerust_Rust_Inhibitors/descpage-FLZA.html You can also find information/purchase the boxes at: http://www.flambeauoutdoors.com/en/fishing
abkeenan Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I just put silica pouches in my tackle and that seems to work well. I also have some the the Flambeau strips in my boxes as well. Nothing will ruin your tackle like rust.

So it WAS guidespeak eh? Or, sort of. So it's not so much the specific boxes per se, but the rust inhibiting inserts? The boxes do look pretty darn good too. Been kind of leaning towards either the Cabela's Magnum storage bag or the Wild River version. They both come with or without their own boxes so I was kind of curious if there would be any advantage in purchasing separately. Abkeenan, thanks for the tip on silica as well. I agree, rust is the armageddon of fishing tackle. Even noticed that Plano now has boxes with holes in the top and bottom to promote airflow to eliminate moisture. Kind of wonder if they wouldn't let as much or more in as they vent out? "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups."
