Tanderson15 Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 When you pay a lot for sunglasses the best thing to do is pick out the ones you like, then go back to the fish finders/graphs and see if you can read them just looking at them normally. When I bought my last pair that's what I did. Does not mean you have to buy them there but you can see what you want. nomolites 1

Be interesting to see how Cabela's handled that since they keep their good glasses under lock and key. They darn sure have enough sales people in there that one could walk with you back to the graphs if they were afraid you were gonna steal the shades.
abkeenan Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Denny, I bet you could get them to make you some yellow nylon frames to match your Skeet sticks and yeller shoes. If not, you could get some white frames and douse em in chartreuse Dip'n Dye. Just don't use any of that JJ's Magic dye. Even that hot rod Phoenix won't be able to outrun the garlic smell. Ya I had a pair of the Oakley Angler Specific Hijinx and lost them. Just happen to go to Oakley Vault (their closeout website) and what do you know they have the EXACT same model on sale for $110 (Regular price was like $160 or $180 if I recall). They sold out of them about 2 days later. About the only time in my life I've ever gotten lucky. Fast forward about a year+.....I find my other pair in the back cup holder of my father in laws race car that I hadn't been in with him in a while. Doh! Only thing that sucks about buying from Oakley Vault is that there is no warranty with glasses purchased from there. I have always treated everything I've even owned like very well and rarely break or damage anything so not a big deal to me. Champ188 1
Tanderson15 Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Cabelas did it for me. Picked out four different glasses and the salesmen followed me back to the fishing dept. and I tried all. The Amber lens of a he costa was the best. I'm glad to here the support champ received from them.
Donna G Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I'm wearing Typhoons at the moment and can't wait to get back in Costas. I know some of the pros are singing the praises of the Typhoons, but I don't care for them. Not nearly as sturdy as the Costas and the optics aren't as good. Don't know if you bought them there or not, but I'm sure you wouldn't have if they'd been reluctant to let you walk across the store with them.
buddygr53 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I will never have another pair. The wife gave me a pair. First trip out dropped them on the deck of boat, one of the lenses broke. Sent them in for repair , wanted to charge me for new lenses. Was less than 1week old. Needless to say i still have a broken pair and i do not recommend anyone to buy them. JUST SAYING.

You did break them. Not sure you should be angry because they didn't replace then for free.
buddygr53 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I drop them on carpet, while bending over. At the most 24 to 36 inch drop. Do you really think they should of broken. I would of paid had it of been 6 or 8 months after having them. But one week. I think not. But if other people have had good luck with them, more power to ya.
jeb Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Costa prescription sunglasses cannot be returned directly to Costa for repair. Mine are prescriptions. And the dealer didn't answer emails or calls. So I'm stuck. Yeah, the prescription side of their business is trickier. I have two pairs of Costa perscription sunglasses. They work well and I like them, but the coating has gone bad on both sets, one of them twice. First time, I thought it was a fluke, and it was still under the 2 year warranty, so they replaced the lenses. I was careful from then on out to only use good, name brand cleaning products with them (Zeiss and Bausch/Lomb). They were both bad again last fall. One pair was over the 2 year time, the other was not. No issue on the newer pair, but it was a fight on the older pair. My optometrist went to bat for me, and it ended up working out. But I'm a bit leary of Costa's CS. I know I'm most likely screwed going forward if/when the issue comes up again. I only clean them with water and dawn dish soap now, per the optomotrist's suggestion. And I've found out that a lot of Costa perscription glass owners end up doing the same thing. They really need to figure out how to make coatings that last on those. So bottom line, I HIGHLY suggest you use someone else's glasses if you're going to a perscription set made. I have a WileyX pair that pre-dates either of my Costa's, and they're still going strong. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
