ness Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 We've stayed there many times, the latest back in October in one of the big cabins, for a family get-together. The owners are always extremely nice to us (yes, we are trout guys). The only thing I can think of is that they've got a loop driveway without a lot of room to maneuver a big-honkin' sparkly bass yacht (or several) around in. (Sorry, sometimes I can't help myself ). There's probably more to the story than 'we don't like bass guys'. Sometimes trouble just seems to follow certain folks around. Also, that reminds me we need to make our reservation for next October's get-together. John

Champ188 Posted February 4, 2015 Author Posted February 4, 2015 I'm sure there could be any number of good reasons, including that he doesn't want a boat parked in front of the room. Hey, it's his place and he can do as he wishes. But the fellow manning the phones didn't handle the situation as one might expect from a person representing the place to someone who was trying to book 5 nights of business. Just simply said he had spoken to the owner and he "wishes to decline your business."

Right now, I think we're going to settle in at Lunker Landing or somewhere similar over by Shell Knob and drive over to Big M on tournament mornings. Be about a 30-minute drive but beats driving 1.5 hours from home.

Give Roaring River Resort a call. (800) 693-2792. Good folks, nice clean rooms -- though they're somewhat dated in the motel part. Mention you've got a boat and would be happy to park it out of the way. When you're done for the day, pop on down to Roaring River and take a crack at some silver slicks. I never go down there without stopping into Tim's Fly Shop (right next to the resort). One of the best fly shops you'll find -- he's got everything, and there's always good conversation too. John
