rps Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Tonight I spatchcocked a chicken and pushed homemade pesto under the skin of the breast, thighs, and legs. That will roast. I found dried mushrooms of several varieties in a discount bin at the market. Of course I bought them. I soaked them in chicken broth and tonight I will use them to make a risotto to go with the chicken. Flash boiled broccoli will stand as the veg tonight. Maybe pictures, maybe not.

Johnsfolly Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 I saw this IPA at our HyVee and just had to buy it. Just by the namesake, maybe Ham would even like this beer. However, It's a pretty hoppy IPA, which I do like. I also bought their Grunion Pale Ale. Haven't tried that one yet.
Johnsfolly Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 It's been awhile since I have been on this thread. BH you definitely scored on the grilled figs. That sounds fantastic! I really like figs. They are hard to describe the taste. I think that dried figs taste a bit like dark brown sugar or molasses. Some folks think that the seeds are a bit offputting in terms of their texture. BilletHead Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 Seeds just add a bit of crunch. We stood at the fig bush and feasted today. Pick, pop open and squeeze out the inside. I may try to dehydrate a few before it is all over. Price wasn't bad considering its a bigger can and hopefully tasty. Man, I've never had so much trouble trying to make a post, but finally, here I am. If you like the dollar variety, Im positive you'll like them. MOPanfisher Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 I am juvenile minded enough that every time I see that phrase "I spatchcoked a chicken" I simply can't help but giggle. Might be the lime a ritas making it seem funnier. Chief, since I sent tonights leftover steaks back to Spfld with my son I may get to try them tomorrow. Flysmallie and Chief Grey Bear 2

Terrierman Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 I still can't get photos to load - but last night I made a batch of deep fried chantrelles (Don's Chuckwagon batter - good stuff) and grilled cheese sandwiches with sliced tomato and fire roasted chiles. Pretty high grade grilled cheese sandwich if I do say so myself. BilletHead and Johnsfolly 2
