Thawed out a half dozen shrimp and pulled stuff together to make some cheesy grits and a sauce. When I turned around, there were two shrimp left.  There was a quick trial and the perp was found guilty and sentenced to an evening in the kennel.

I thawed out a few more, threw together some stuff for the sauce (diced onion, thyme, paprika, garlic powder, cayenne, pepper, tomato paste, beer, butter) and cooked the shrimp in it.

For as spontaneous as all this was, it was really pretty good.

Now we wait to see what raw shrimp does to little Ruby's tummy...

On a lark, the wife and I have signed up for Blue Apron. We plan to participate for a month to six weeks to pick up ideas and avoid a rut about our food. Tonight we put together their vegetable curry. The paste was quite stout and we used about half. Everything turned out quite good.

Late summer lunch.  Stayed home to take care of my mom, so decided it was a good day to test RPS fish burger recipe.  Or at least a very close approximation. I should have used more fish, as the egg and bread crumBS held it all together nucely, but wasn't enough fish in it.  However it had a wonderful crust, and was pretty darn good.  Sinus issues make my taste buds suspect but mom said it was good too.  Stopped on the way out to get the mail and picked a couple cukes, then went back for a handfull of tiny tomatoes.  Not bad for a late summer lunch at all.

Thought I would add a picture of the fishburgers I made for tonight so you could see what I mean. Fillets from one walleye, 1 egg, some green onion, and just enough panko to barely hold it together.

Simple...Pork chop with Johnny's #4 rub, on the indoor cast iron grill. Bush's regular beans drained, added ketchup, yellow mustard, molasses and rub. Johnny's #3 sauce.

Haven't really been home lately. So not a lot of original dishes. Last Night after dinner felt a little sweet tooth kick in. my betterhalf picked up some local braeburn apples. Decided to have French toast with carmelized apples. I mixed the folly farm fresh eggs with cinnamon, vanilla, and almond extract. Dredged the bread in the egg mixture and into the skillet. cooked sliced apples and added cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice, a little butter after the apples cooked down a bit then dark brown sugar.
