ness Posted December 16, 2015 Author Posted December 16, 2015 Kinda the same thing here -- lots going on. Did a batch of gumbo and honey/spice glazed and torched a spiral cut ham for a work party tomorrow. Also taking in a rum soaked fruitcake. Then I catch a break. Going out to dinner tomorrow (Wednesday is dollar oyster night!) and to see the KC symphony Thursday. Friday I hustle home from work and cook some sides for a party that night. Gonna do maple glazed roasted carrots and garlic Parmesan roasted cauliflower. Then catch my breath Saturday. BilletHead and Gavin 2 John
Gavin Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Oops 2 more for the office! Not due till the 22nd.
ness Posted December 16, 2015 Author Posted December 16, 2015 So I looked around in the Internet for ham glaze ideas. Settled on brown sugar, honey and pumpkin pie spice. Torched the crap out of it. Me likey! BilletHead 1 John
Flysmallie Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Well now I want a kitchen torch! I always coat them in honey, Bad Byron's Butt Rub, another layer of honey and then pack on the brown sugar. But I don't know how that would work cooking with a torch.
ness Posted December 16, 2015 Author Posted December 16, 2015 It's a pretty good way to crisp up the glaze without heating up the whole ham and possibly drying it out. John
BilletHead Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 That is a toy torch. Looks good ness but you need to get out the BernzOmatic next time for a ham that big!
