Fried chicken is probably my second favorite food. Pan gravy, a byproduct of the aforementioned, on mashed potatoes with corn is probably # 1. Together my favorite meal.

Last night's green beans, although they looked good, were tough and woody. I bought a large batch of them and blanched more than half for later salads. This morning the blanched and reserved beans went in the slow cooker with crushed tomatoes, olive oil, sugar, cinnamon, and Greek seasoning. Tonight they are soft and limp Greek green beans. I will sear some small chuck steaks and butter and herb some noodles to make a meat, starch, veg dish for dinner. Ozark types know how to subdue recalcitrant veg.

Last night I ate out -- to meet my daughter's boyfriend's parents. Went to Stroud's, which is the second best place in KC to get fried chicken. The first best being my house :D

Determined to stick with the diet, I had a bowl of soup and a salad.... And a little serving of mashed taters and gravy. And a chicken tender. With some gravy on it. And a bite of a cinnamon roll. And another small serving of taters and gravy.  And the chicken tender was as big as a hot dog bun.

My kind of diet buddy! We are still eating pretty good here in BilletHeadville. Not trying too much new but revisiting some of our best dishes. Keeping the wok hot and enjoying the good weather by cooking on the back porch. Been using goose in the Sichuan fragrant duck recipe. Adding a few more hot peppers and ginger too adding a bit more heat to the dish. Nice to have my sous chief Pat helping with the prep work and handing ingredients to me as I cook :) . Loving the rice cooker too.

Sounds good!

Everybody says they love their rice cookers. I may need to pop for one.
