That's a great tradition! Thats a mess of doves on that tailgate. Also the food sounds and looks great. Where were you catching the crayfish?

No doves or crayfish for us last night. We had panko coated pork cutlets, green beans, and mashed potatoes. Added a little mushroom gravy.

What's a few dozen (or 30+ lbs) crawfish between friends. You can tell me the location, I won't take too many or tell anyone else ;).

Sorry no pics of the lunch feast.  Bacon wrapped dove breasts with a slice of jalapeño in the middle, grilled fast and hot, cream cheese stuffed mushroons, large jalapenos split and seeded, cream cheese & brown sugar then wrapped in bacon, potatoes salad, and baked beans.  We nearly ate ourselves into a stupor.  Afternoon dove hunt nearby, but since I had already limited out this morningI stayed to bait and run crawdad traps (with dove the carcasses for bait).   And may have had a nap or two.  Our traditional supper is a ctawfish boil, with taters, corn, andouille sausage chunks, and a bag of frog legs.  Absolutely gorgeous day, lots of shooting, way too much food, good friends, and my 18 yr old college boy son (all 2 weeks of his college career). Since my wife and oncologist prohibited me from going last year this was even more special.

I believe I have mentioned Zingermans before on this thread. The proprietors are hippies that started a delicatessen in Ann Arbor, MI and expanded to a bakery, a creamery, and a mail order empire. When you order by internet, you get an email that says your order is "totally confirmed." We discovered Nueskes through them and our favorite white balsamic vinegar comes from them. Recently, we read about the Korean ketchup called gochujang. We ordered some. This stuff is a fermented paste with hot chilli peppers included. It is dynamite! 

Tonight I have put together a sesame noodles dish with gochujang as well as a sushi tray we picked up at Sams. We have an unoaked chard by Kim Crawford to go with this.

Not really home cooking, but really tasty!
