buddygr53 Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 If i under stand it. You can only use 3 hooks. Is this right.
ten_scoach Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 My buddy capndan taught me to run two lighter heads and three heavier heads. The lighter two will run on top. Bend those top two lighter heads hooks into the body. Fish will usually hit the bottom swimmers. Game warden did creel check on me last year and said my set up was acceptable.
buddygr53 Posted February 16, 2015 Author Posted February 16, 2015 Ok thanks.. i was down last weekend. Walked past of a couple of boats that had th err rig on. I seen 5 hooks sticking out. Just checking. Thanks guys
Terrierman Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Pretty much catch one fish at a time regardless of three or five hooks. From where I sit it's a dumb rule. But willing to be educated as to why it makes sense.

But willing to be educated as to why it makes sense. Just like a lot of rules, regulations or laws they were put in place to protect against something and as time goes on (technology advances) they become irrelevant and need to be restructured or thrown out completely. I believe the 3 hook rule in MO was put into place to help with the over harvesting of certain fish....say spoonbill, sturgeon, etc. I am not entirely sure but that is just my guess. Now the A-Rig comes along in which that rule or regulation should really not apply but it falls into that illegal gray area. Either way I don't find it to be a big deal. I will also agree of the handful of A-Rigs I have found in tree tops (fish the MO side about 90% of the time but do venture into Long Creek AR side) when water levels are down every single one of them had 5 hooks when they should have had 3.
buddygr53 Posted February 17, 2015 Author Posted February 17, 2015 Do you think they should be allowed in tournaments.
Champ188 Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 I wish they weren't allowed in tournaments because I think it raises the chances of lesser-skilled anglers winning money. But that's just my personal feelings and certainly not a compelling reason to ban them.

They have told me that between the 2 anglers in the same boat, they would lose an average of 3-4 rigs EACH, per tournament. I'm still throwing the same Terminator umbrella rigs I bought 2 years ago. Even if those guys get a check, which is rare, they just use all that prize money to buy more rigs to lose in the next derby.. Quillback and Champ188 2

It's like going to the casino for 8 hours and breaking even when you're walking out. That's a win in my book!
