gitnby Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I won't say I'm accomplished at the jerker, but I've done pretty well with it. Seems like the next 2 weeks should be ideal for it as the water temp slowly recovers? Wart bite ought to be right behind it? Where do you all like to throw the jerkbait? What do you target in terms of depth, contour, type of rock, etc. I've always liked bluffends, and chunk rock inside of main lake & secondary points. Points with standing wood have not been my favorite, but I know they can be productive. Let's hear your thoughts, particularly during this late Spring warm-up we're about to see!
tapout Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Cedars. Nuff said. I'd like to thank my FUTURE sponsers: Falcon Rods, Jewel Bait Co, and Seagar
fishinwrench Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 More tuned to LO than TR, but the first places I like to hit are the closest steep banks to the backends of coves and creek arms. The first fish to show up on back end flats are the bigguns, so I wanna be fishing as close to those areas as the bite will allow. Champ188 1
dtrs5kprs Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Brown fish places...gravel with wind, main lake transition banks (float and fly banks). State brush or rock piles. Well off shakey head/Ned places...boat in 35-40'. Docks, especially the fronts of deeper docks. The old deal of throwing it by a big bushy cedar and target fishing it is harder to do with less wood in the lake, at least for me. There are places where it is easier, but a lot of them get pounded. Kind of have the idea those stick fish are spooked more by that than jig or grub fish. The overlooked places can be pretty good.
Sore Thumbs Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Im thinking with all this cold water run off that the backs of coves and creeks might not be as good as main lake and secondary points. Transition banks are good too. Same places you would throw a wart. Just find some with depth and fish it slow and maybe even weight it with split rings or bigger front hook. That way it's slowly falling. Docks with brush are great places too.
Bill Babler Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I'm not thinking there is going to be much of a cold water runoff with only a couple of inches of snow here in the Springfield to Rogers Ark area. We got up to 54 degrees here at Blue Eye, and it is not going to get as cool tonight and continue to warm each day. I'm thinking they will be on and moving up during the day on any type of River Channel transition, especially those that have pole timber and are relating to the bigger pockets. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Members kirkton Posted March 7, 2015 Members Posted March 7, 2015 always had best luck fishing parallel to steep bank or chunk rock banks with a jerk bait.
Sore Thumbs Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Thank you Bill. Figured runoff would be more of a factor. Insert foot in mouth. Ha
kjackson Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Kings River was muddy yesterday when I crossed it in Berryville...
