Guest Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 I'm going to make flat stencils for the bluegill pattern. Do any of y'all make your own bluegill pattern stencils?
Guest Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 I used the bob smith on my RK Crawlers last night. One of them is perfect & one has sticky residue. Is this due to dipping the stir stick in denatured alcohol? Maybe too much? do I need to wipe down the sticky bait with denatured alcohol to remove the excess residue? I can always hit it plasti dip on a warm sunny day next week.
Guest Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 It's either mixed wrong, not mixed long enough or the ambient temp dropped below 70 degrees while brushing on the epoxy. I don't think it's the alcohol.

Do any of y'all make your own bluegill pattern stencils? I cut a flat craw/vertical squiggle stencil the other day. Kind of old school like Bagley's or Arbogast. Thought at the time it would work for a perch pattern. Might need more stripes, cut closer together. Just took a sharpie to some stencil film, then followed it with a hot cutter.
Fish24/7 Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 just got 100 baits in the mail to paint, I'd better get busy!!
Guest Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 I put the base coat on the blugill pattern, & sprayed plasti dip on a watermelon red RK crawler to give it a dull matte finish. I warmed the lure & the rattle can of plastidip, then stepped out front where its blocked from this wind. Very nice finish cost. Pre-heating the is the deal. 85 degrees is better than 70 degrees.
Fish24/7 Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 had to make a crankbait stencil yesterday out of paper and packaging tape because I lost the other one I used a small oval shaped piece with the design drawn on it. I laminated the paper on both sides with a piece of clear packaging tape then used a razor knife to cut out the design. This made a quick,2 sided ,very flexible, easy to clean and position, paint proof stencil that can be used several times. dtrs5kprs 1
