ness Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I use this stencil to paint the eyes on wiggle warts. Just tape off the holes your not using & spray. On the poppers I do, I use two drill bits -- one a little larger than the other. Dip the flat end of the larger one in white craft paint, then press it on the popper. A few minutes later, follow up with the smaller one in black paint. I kinda like the look, and it's got a little 3-D-ness to it too. I know we're talking about two different things.... John
Guest Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 grab some 600 grit automtive sandpaper at walmart. I also like the sanding blocks used by salons to sand nails, maybe 300 grit. I use acetone to strip clear baits, but dont try this on an expensive bait. (gotta be fast if not, the bait will melt) I like to cover the clear bills with 3M painters tape (blue or green) windex to rinse out my airbrush, there are other methods too Business cards are handy for sketching & stencil building, plastic stencil sheets from hobby lobby

dtrs5kprs Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I bought an iwata last night. I've seen a few people using the helping hands for doing jewelery and stuff to hold the bait during paint. Anyone have experience with that good or bad? Or maybe something they prefer better. I plan on trying to pick up paint, compressor and some dev con 2ton with paint brushes to apply, also a respirator. Anything else I should look into or think about grabbing? Post has been awesome so far. Thank you again guys! Make sure your 2ton is the 60 minute, otherwise it will yellow. You will need something to make stencils. Exacto makes a little double ended clamp that works OK. I mostly used forceps to hold baits. Lets you rotate the bait freely while shooting color.

And then a few others any colors in the createx you guys have tried and found it not to be a good color or found and loved the way it paints? I'm sure it'll be some trial and error. Just trying avoid a color that may end up just sitting on the shelf and never being used. lol

5bites Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 The wickeds generally spray better straight out of the bottle from what I've seen. Buy some reducer to thin your paint. This is especially true for opaque createx. That stuff comes out of the bottle like jelly sometimes. Again you can thin with water but I'm not liking what im seeing doing that. Like trophy mentioned windex is a good airbrush cleaner. I use it too. My eclipse came with a sample of an iwata brand cleaner and it works even better. Spend more now and fight less later. I'm sure you know this but since these paints are water based you can paint a lure and if it doesn't turn out you just wash the paint off and start over.

Thank you again guys! something to "turn" your lures on after brushing on clear I recommend those small, gray, foam disposable brushes for applying clear a compressor with a built in air tank and moisture trap is worth a look into
5bites Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 something to "turn" your lures on after expoy don't dip n drip, lol Hey there's an idea lol. Lowes apparently sells a rotisserie setup for $35ish some use. I'm using my rod dryer and a very ghetto setup with a broken rod, tape, old brushes, and alligator clips. It'll change eventually. Soon I hope actually. It's pretty hideous.
