GloryDaze Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Congrats.. just in time for spring. I think you will like the seat being a little lower, really helps lower the center of gravity. I dropped mine about 3" when I got it. Follow me on Twitter @DazeGlory
Al Agnew Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Yep, seat placement looks about right. As for how low the seat is, personally I like a higher seat because I find it more comfortable, I can see into the water better, I can fish more efficiently, especially with topwaters, and I can get my battery box tackle box under the seat. But it's a trade-off against being a little less stable-feeling. I'm so used to keeping my balance in canoes that it doesn't bother me...also, on the rare occasions when I do make a mistake and need to bail out of the canoe before it flips, it's easier with the higher seat.
fishinwrench Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Yeah, even with a sit-backer on it I think that seat is gonna be a bit too low. I'd probably scoot it back 3-4" too, just to make room for my hound. Nice little rig though. Have fun in her !
ness Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Good going, Ollie. Looks like a good fit for what you were looking for. I think your height, weight and personal comfort will dictate what seat height and placement works best. For me, I just adapt. John
GloryDaze Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 I gauge my seat height by my ability for my feet to be able to fit when I'm kneeling. If I can't slide them underneath it's too low. I did learn you don't want you're feet too tight under there in case you flip- darn last thing you want is them to get caught up under your seat. Follow me on Twitter @DazeGlory
ollie Posted April 13, 2015 Author Posted April 13, 2015 Point well taken glorydaze "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
ollie Posted April 29, 2015 Author Posted April 29, 2015 Ok got the new boat and now I'm just being stupid I think. Take a look at the pic, there is a bend in the plastic molding. Would this be considered I blemished model? I still got a good deal on it. Should I be worried that it will perform different in the water? I'm thinking it won't matter, but.................. I'm over thinking this aren't I? fishinwrench Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 I'd throw a fit ! Old Town shouldn't be letting those go to market.
ness Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 In my humble opinion, there is far, far, too much quibbling about this stuff. Put that canoe in the water, and paddle it. Accept the canoe you own for what it is and don't look back. Adapt! Daryk Campbell Sr 1 John

After all the research and thought that Ollie invested before he bought.... I'm not satisfied.
