rps Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Based on the last two years, nothing on my original list has changed. However, several very good movies have made a hypothetical essential viewing list. Note - I do not go to movie theaters and wait until they become reasonably priced on dvd. Therefore I am at least two years behind the current trends. Check out: The 100 Foot Journey Birdman (I didn't really like it, but Keaton gave a fantastic performance) Open Range ness 1
Flysmallie Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 I know I've mentioned this one before but I caught part of it the other day and it's still really good. Weird, but really good. Mitch f 1
Mitch f Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Mitch - I'm thinking that it might be from the Right Stuff, but not certain. Definitely one or more of the actresses were from that film. My son and I agree that the all time best movie car chase scene is in The Dead Pool with Clint being chased by the RC car. You are correct Sir, the right stuff. This is Alan Shepards wife receiving a phone call from NASA Johnsfolly and ness 2 "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
Johnsfolly Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 You are correct Sir, the right stuff. This is Alan Shepards wife receiving a phone call from NASA I wasn't sure if it was the scene where John Glenn's wife wouldn't talk with Lyndon because of her stutter. Love that movie. Always was fascinated by Chuck Yeager. Mitch f 1
Terrierman Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 We need to make it five westerns, five comedies, five drama, five sci-fi, five gangster, five love stories, five chick flicks, five cartoons and five Cheech and Chong. Much more reasonable limit. Flysmallie, Johnsfolly and rps 3
Terrierman Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 I'm thinking about my list and wonder if I should classify Guardians of the Galaxy as one of my chick flicks. The only other chick flicks I have are Steel Magnolias and From Dusk 'til Dawn.
ness Posted April 10, 2017 Author Posted April 10, 2017 Look what you started Ness! Wutz this from? I'm thinking The Right Stuff too. John
ness Posted April 10, 2017 Author Posted April 10, 2017 And that post was before I read the reveal ? I think Duel was one of Spielberg's first movies. Kinda weird but good. Love the scene in the diner ...and, I haven't seen the other movie mentioned, but best car chase so far for me is Bullit. The Blues Brothers is right up there too. John
ness Posted April 17, 2017 Author Posted April 17, 2017 Somebody was talking about the movie Ten Commandments, and it made me think of this gem: Flysmallie and Johnsfolly 2 John
