Quillback Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Another Eastwood film. Sniper that is. Letters from Iwo Jima is a good one also (directed by Eastwood).
Quillback Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 African Queen is a good one. Indeed - so many good movies, impossible to list just 5.
Quillback Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 The only Coen Brothers movie I rate really high is No Country for Old Men. Give me the original True Grit for example. Qunten Tarantino has made some good stuff. Jackie Brown gets my vote for his best movie. I like the new True Grit - Jeff Bridges did a great job. No Country for Old Men, raising Arizona also great.
Quillback Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Looking at the list, I see some patterns: History 6; Coen brothers 4; War 4; Tom Hanks 3; Western 3; John Ford 2; John Wayne 2; Yeah no romances, LOL.
ness Posted March 28, 2015 Author Posted March 28, 2015 Quillback gets it!! No Fargo fans out there? John
rps Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 I love Fargo - my favorite Coen Brothers. It's just ... I like others more.
Quillback Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Quillback gets it!! No Fargo fans out there? I liked it, seen it three times. I'd put it in my top 20.
Feathers and Fins Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Thanks A _ _ _ _ OF A LOT NESS.... Just got done watching Red Fern and now I need to go find the Onion someone left in this house... great thread but man that show gets me every single time. ness 1 https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Quillback Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 The Road Warrior (Mad Max 2) is another good one. A good, but somewhat obscure, Jack Nicholson movie is The last Detail. The Sand Pebbles is another good oldie.
ness Posted March 28, 2015 Author Posted March 28, 2015 I love Fargo - my favorite Coen Brothers. It's just ... I like others more. That's the first Coen brothers movie I really knew. I liked Raising AZ when I first saw it, but I appreciated it more when I saw more of their stuff. The dialogue is great in those two, and Oh Brother, but the thrills of No Country and Blood Simple are off the charts. But yeah, this business of ranking them is tough. John
