Quillback Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Launched at 0700 into a world of cold and fog, air temp was 34 warming to 74 by the time I pulled out at 3:00 PM. Fishing was off and on depending where I was, almost all the fish I caught were very shallow, either on gravel or in front of the buck brush. Pea green water was the best, could not get them in the brown water. Caught close to 20, 7-8 keepers, no bigguns, biggest was a mean just short of 3 lbs. Caught a half dozen smallies which is unusual for me on that part of the lake. Maybe 2 or 3 LM's, the rest were spots. Water temps were 52-56. Saw 58 in the back of a cove. Lots of bassers out there today. 5bites, Muddy Water, Sac River Jim and 1 other 4
dtrs5kprs Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Brown fish are in a race with the trout to take over the lake. Bwahahahaha! Sounds like fun times are creeping up on us.
Champ188 Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 You are a meanmouth-catching machine. Thanks for the report and congrats on a good day. Did you go up, down or both?
Jim Elam Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Nice brownie too! Thanks for the report. Jim "The obsessions of others are opaque to the unobsessed, and thus easy to mock...If we are lucky we all have at least one."

I went up as far as Owl creek, water was getting pretty brown up there, and went down as far as point 23 area where it also started getting brown. I could not get bites in the brown water. Champ188 1
fishingaddiction Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Good report and some nice keepers. You do know what has increased your brown fish catching in the upper end? Answer: Fishing the Ned on a regular basis. The small jaws love those things! Born to Fish. Forced to Work.

Macsimus Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Congrats on the great day. It was a magnificently perfect spring day yesterday. Between work in the AM and the non-fisher-people company we have down, I was forced to observe the lake all day from the house and could only wonder "what if". Is the meanmouth a smallie-spot cross? Cool looking fish. "There was a time that I didn't fish, but I cannot remember it."
pvspmo Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Nice catch! Last Thursday caught them in the brown water... Saturday could not get bit in brown water. Good old Table Rock!
