my humminbird shows many of these same fish in the lake .

But very oddly .... They are all pointing the same direction??

If it helps I see both sides are listening to the others thoughts. Great Forum. PHIL. thank you!

I have to somewhat disagree. That bass has been spawning for years so its genetics have been passed on. I would estimate about 10K eggs for at least 5 years. And I believe that to be modest.

I also believe that every bass has the potential to grow to a trophy size. I think that man as well as other predators are the only limiting factors. And the amount of forage available.

i think I agree

I really don't think 6 pound bass have fertile eggs myself. I've read this before

several

Weather patterns and water temps. Are significant!

this is the first bass I have kept in probably 20 years. I have released thosands of bass in that time, and will continue to do so. I have released bigger bass than this one, so I think I have done my fair share of conservation. I paid for my boat, tackle, gas, license and the lure to catch the old girl . thats all I got to say about that

Hey do you think I could tag along next time??

You are entitled to your opinion, everyone is. But you guys come in and try to take away from a good catch every time to restate your opinion. Try to make somebody feel below you because you would have released it. It's not needed.

Maybe the keepers will do some of you releasers a favor and let the next big one go. Then you will have the opportunity to catch it one morning and stick it in your livewell to run around the lake all day with you. Then you can put it in a plastic bag with a bunch of other fish and stand in line to weigh it in and then hopefully somebody will make sure it gets back to the water alive.

I understand that you guys care about the resource. I love that. I really do. But I just don't see any point in getting on a fishing website and berating someone for keeping a fish. There is no point in it. If you truly cared that much for every single fish out there then you would quit fishing all together.

I should have just quoted you - good post. Less drama.

If a guy wants to keep a fish its his decision, he caught it, ask yourself a question would you have kept it? Fellas there are bigger ones than that. Bass are smart so if you want the big boys do your homework because my dad and his buddy have pulled 9lb plus fishing tournaments at Stockton years back.....
