rangerman Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Niiiiicceeee guys! ham with the lake being high fish the outer edges of the trees on the dc flats. Caught 8 or so a day last time it was this high on crawler harnesses so if you actually targeted them I think you could pull more. Nothing over 10 or so inches though... On a side note while I was being depressed at table rock thinking of walleye on bull shoals, I took it out on the flatheads with my 7 year old. We set two 10 hook lines and ended up with 19 fish all in between 7 and 20 pounds in 3 days. Flatties in the freezer, second favorite to walleye. his first trotlining adventure so it wasn't a loss to me. He got a kick out of it. Sorry for the hijack thread. I'll be driving down to compete for walleye with you guys next week. Ham 1
Ham Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 I'm so tender hearted towards fish that its a wonder that I keep fish at all. I like flatheads too much to kill them. I guess I would kill channels and blues. Walleye get eaten all the time. Crappie get eaten most of the time. I would really rather keep LMB between 12-14 inches. Id rather release all my spotted bass. I will not keep a smallie. Period. Bream are too fishy tasting for me. loop24 and Amery 2 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. rangerman Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Dayhem Ham! Lol. Hope I didn't offend you. We eat the hell out of fish!
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Last summer we shot a few decent channels and for some reason it was the nastiest fish i have ever eaten. I read somewhere that it could have been from them eating algae or somthing...Anybody have any clue?

I was taught, if you do not remove it, you get the taste of the bottom.
Ham Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Dayhem Ham! Lol. Hope I didn't offend you. We eat the hell out of fish!. Oh Man, Not at all. Like I said, I'm too tender hearted. Not like I'm starving though. If you wanted to do me a favor though, you could turn loose all your keeper smallies. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Riverwhy Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 While it certainly is NOT illegal provided the fish meet the 18-inch minimum length limit and you are within the daily creel limit, absolutely nothing good can come of stringing up a bunch of walleye. Just kidding. I could not resist taking a line from Champ about keeping spotted bass. I'm trying to master summer walleye trolling but it is an art. Nice bunch of walleye. I'm jealous.
Rob P Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Go back and re read the trolling article I wrote. You will notice I refer to trolling suspended walleye in tree tops. Channel edges. They usually wait until later in the summer, but fish can't read scripts. RPS where can I find the article? I've been using line counter reel and snap on 2oz weights to get down to 25fow. I can use all the help I can get to improve my catching. I did use leadcore but my kids complained about their arms hurting reeling in all the time! It does seem depth precision for 20-25fow is a must for bait control and getting the rods to bounce with fish. Thanks. .
