Mitch f Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Has anyone tried it and what do you think? Expensive, but I've only used it a couple of times. I do know that I tried to bite through the line to eliminate the tag end and darn near couldn't bite thru it. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
fishinwrench Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 I use it for tippet material on Bass and Temperate applications. It's good stuff but I don't know how manageable it is on casting/spinning gear. I haven't liked any of the 100% flouro lines on my gear rods. I prefer the co-polys for that. P-line CX premium is my fav. Mitch f 1
kjackson Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 I've fished both the Professional Grade 100% Trilene, and Trilene XL fluorocarbon (new late last year). The PG 100 is for casting reels and fishes well there. It's not as springy as some of the other brands. I mostly use it for trolling applications, but I have also done a fair bit of casting with it. It works well. The XL fluorocarbon (not to be confused with XL mono) was developed for spinning reel use. It, too, is all fluorocarbon. It works fairly well on spinning gear. I think the stuff I have is either 6 or 8-pound test. I found it to be a little springier than XL mono, but I had no problems using it at all. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Mitch f 1

P-line CX premium is my fav. I gave up 100% fluoro Seagaur Carbon pro several years ago when I broke off on a big fish. Switched to Yozuri Hybrid and love it except for the coiling, which requires stretching, and a dose of Kevin Van Dams line conditioner. A good friend, who I really trust, turned me on to Trilene 100%. I'm mainly looking for shock strength and abrasion resistance like Yozuri, but more manageable. Old plug Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 I do not know who makes PBS but it is not PBS. I use Excel and have never had a provlem with if. I change my line during the season the amount depends on how much I fish. I know they sell flor down there under a couple of PBS names mightvbe the same line.
hoglaw Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 I'm leery of any Berkley floro because of how bad my experience with Vanish was. That stuff was brittle as could be. Maybe I got a bad spool, or left it out in the sun or something? Not sure, but it was awful. It was tough to bite through as well, but it would break extremely easily. CX Premium is the bomb for co-poly. I love that stuff. I don't know as much about lines as most, but I absolutely love Segaur's Red Label. It's not very expensive comparatively speaking, and I've had great results from it. I only use it on baitcasters though. Mitch f 1
Ham Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 The Berkley 100% Fluro is about as good as it gets. I've used the 10 lb for jerkbaits for a couple of years now. Very abrasion resistant yet seems pretty supple. It doesn't seem to be thick per strength. Don't avoid the 100% Fluro because of Vanish. Vanish was a bad product. They may have improved it, But I will never buy any of their line labelled Vanish. I use Seguar Abraz X on baitcasters and I bought Red Label for leader material. I've gone back to my CX Premium for leader material. Fluro is too picky about how it is tied and I don't think I was getting advantages the advantages of Fluro to offset the disadvantages in my < 8 foot leader. I felt like the Red Label had a little too much body. LarrySTL and Mitch f 2 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Mitch f Posted June 19, 2015 Author Posted June 19, 2015 Good point Ham, like Hoglaw, the Vanish almost ruined me. The new stuff seems Exactly as you described. I also have heard great stuff about the CX premium. Thanks everyone for the responses! "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
Ham Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 I should have said that it is the best I have tried. I'm not about to buy all the fancy import fluoros on the market. Some of them may very well be superior to the Berkley 100%, but it seems like a great product to me. I don't need anything better. Getting it free would be an upgrade though. MOsmallies Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Mitch as you know, all I use is P-Line CX Premium... I have 3000 yd spools of 8, 10, 12, and 15 if you ever wanna spool up and try it out. I could probably count on 1 hand the number of times I've broken off on a hook set or fish in the last 5 years... And two happened in your boat on the same day when I was dumb and had too light of line for the rod I was using. It has a thinner diameter and is much limper than the Yozuri Hybrid... But Yozuri probably has a little better abrasion resistance. Mitch f and Ham 2
