Members C&R Posted June 17, 2015 Members Posted June 17, 2015 Last year I bought a couple of $80 shimano sahara spinning reels thinking I was buying a good quality reel for my creek fishing. They worked perfect for about a month. Then I noticed with a little moisture on them from normal use, the reeling became rough and difficult . It did not take long on the internet to find countless articles describing the same problem. I am sure Shimano will repair them, but I am not sure if they will correct the problem. Looking for some suggestions on some reels under a $100 that are holding up for you guys. Anyone know anything about the pflueger President ($60) ?? Thanks

Seth Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 I like the Pflueger President. I've been using one a 6930 model spooled up with 15# Power Pro on a 7' medium 13 Fishing Omen Green soinning rod for two years and it still works as good as new. For $60, I don't think you can go wrong. tho1mas, Daryk Campbell Sr, ramman123 and 1 other 4
Riverwhy Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Shimano Stradic and CI4+ are excellent reels. I know they are more expensive but they will last a long time with reasonable care.

Daryk Campbell Sr Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Per recommendations from this site, I purchased a Pflueger President, forget the model. I don't fish very often, and this was a decent amount for me to spend. It is a significant upgrade to the stuff I have used for many years. I am very happy with it. I spooled it with 10lb P-line CXX. It is very smooth to retrieve and it has NO reverse spin when it is locked out of reverse. That was new to me. Every other reel I have used has some play in reverse, the President has none. This may be normal for all reels above a Zebco 33, but that is what I have used. ramman123 1 Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. Members DownStream Posted March 27, 2016 Members Posted March 27, 2016 I've found myself in the market for a new spinning reel. I was wondering if anyone has experience any experience with either the quantum accurist or the quantum tour KVD spinning reels? I'll most be wading and floating so want something that can take an occasional dip.
Gavin Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Picked up two accurists last December. Have been great so far but to soon to tell. Only 6-7 days with them so far. Pflueger Presidents are good for the money. Plastic frames though. Broke one when I stepped on it. Never a problem with the reels. Have tried them all. Shimanos bind bad after the get wet, never again. Abu's hold up pretty well. Last one was great for 4-5 years. Still good but wanted something new.

My Abu has been great for 4-5 years, wanting something new. To correct my original post, I'm asking about the team KVD not the tour KVD.
