jolicious Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Dang it. I need to try that fat papa blank. What is the max running depth you've observed with it? 12lb Sunline Reaction Fluoro / 7' cranking stick / 5:4.1 reel = 15' or so would be my estimation. P.S. - The Megabass looking blank is supposed to be back in stock at Dakota Lakes in 3-4 weeks.
*T* Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Yezzer - I think sometimes we get too hung up in the perfection aspect from paint jobs to the particular placement of little bitty dots / stripes that can't even be seen from more than a couple feet. I was talking to a buddy about this just the other day in that I am a believer in this order in regards to what makes a bait good or bad for catching fish: 1. Action 2. Action 3. Primary color (I don't get hung up on hues) 4. Action 5. Overall profile I am a BIG believer in action, of course. Agree.....somewhat. And subject worthy of a thread of its own. 1. Action (or lack of action) 2. High similarity/profile to currently available or preferred prey 3. Color (as it relates to #2^) 4. Your confidence factor base upon prior experience 5. Flash, as it relates to blades or metallic surfaces, especially in water with low visibility 6. Vibration/sound, ditto...low visibility situations "Water is the driving force of all Nature." -Leonardo da Vinci
Fish24/7 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Exhibit #2, your honor, in regards to action vs. color (Always wanted to play a lawyer): 20150416_080158_Richtone(HDR).jpg These two have a top coat that's pretty much unseen until they are either out in the sunlight or under the water on a sunny day that throws a cinnamon-type sheen. I am convinced that the extra layer of color doesn't help anything, but I like it, and I think it's fun to mess with color shifting paints, so I have started using them. Exhibit #3: 20150416_080449_Richtone(HDR).jpg The stripes are barely visible indoors, but they really POP in conditions similar as previously outlined. I think it's more about the action, though. If I had the patience and maturity to test, I'd catch a fish on one, then throw the other - but dang I hate to put a bait down when it's working... sweet, you should really post some pics here too
