m&m Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 I have an opportunity to obtain an Aqua-Vu 5 with DVR underwater camera and I wonder if any other anglers have used this camera or a similar one on TR? I would be interested in hearing your opinions. Mike
Sore Thumbs Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 From what I have heard they are Overrated. I do not own one but I have used the older version and it was pretty cool but hard to control where the camera goes. flyrod17 1
dtrs5kprs Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 You are always at the mercy of water clarity. A graph with side capability is likely more useful on a regular basis. Codywskeeter1521, magicwormman and flyrod17 3
motoman Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 I don't have personal experience with them; but they appear easy to resell online if you don't find that it's what you expected. - I'm tempted to get one myself; just to dip down around a couple spots that hold fish and peak my interest; because these spots show nothing on the graph............Just to see if there's some unusual bottom composition drawing fish in; or something like that. - And too; I'd like to see what's been dropped in the water inside boat slips of some of the larger docks over the years.:-) - Probably just the kid in me, that enjoyed walking the shoreline of my grandparents cove at LOZ and picking up all sorts of lures that washed up...........VERY amateur 'treasure' hunting:--)
buddygr53 Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 I have one. When i first got it i used it to confirm what i was seeing on graft. Bad part is i would find fish and a lot of them and when i could not catch them i would get upset. Now the wife plays with it when we go out to see what is on the bottom of lake.
Jason Essary Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Just had one. Toke it back. Could not see very far. It's was the small screen. Essary Construction - Honest work for honest price Custom Construction and Remodeling Call for free quotes (417)338-6418 http://essarycustomhomes.com/
bfishn Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 I've gotten my $ worth from my rig, enjoyed the view and learned a lot too. What they don't tell you is you can't watch TV and fish at the same time. TVs fun, catchin' fish is funner. flyrod17 and dtrs5kprs 2 I can't dance like I used to.
5bites Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 I would love to have one of these in the boat for my boys.
Chris King Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 I use an Aqua-Vu on our dock. It's a few years old and is the micro camera with LEDs. It's not easy to control, but you can spin the camera just by spinning the line with your fingers. The LEDs light it up pretty good and I can see on the bottom in 30-40'. The kids love seeing fish and all the junk on the bottom. In direct sun, it's tough to see the screen, but works great on the dock. We are around point 5 so it's pretty clear here.
m&m Posted June 25, 2015 Author Posted June 25, 2015 Thanks for all of the opinions. I think i might just upgrade my electronics it is easier to fish at the same time I am watching the screen. Hopefully i can get out Saturday morning and post a report around the dam. Mike Codywskeeter1521 1
