Chief Grey Bear Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 For the last year there has been a huge, massive, all out blitz on OAF to push the Ned onto fishermen under the guise of trying to help people catch more fish. As true as that may be, others believe the brutal flooding of bandwidth was for financial gain. I make no determination one way or the other and leave that to the reader. It was allegedly developed by a very humble unknown fisherman that wanted no exposure or fame or press. Some may or may not find that hard believe. Again that is for the reader to determine on both accounts. What I find interesting is that after months and months and hundreds and hundreds of post exclaiming the vast superiority of the Ned, the very posters that pushed the use of the Ned the hardest are now astounded and extremely angered by the fact that there was side affect to this little super catcher. The Knifer's! The demonic circle has been completed. Smallieguy87 Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 I've fished the Ned a few times now and have been successful with it. It works like a lot of small baits do in that they tend to catch a great deal of fish. I most certainly don't rely on it every time i'm out on the river. I still find my bigger fish come from other baits and i'm still throwing my tubes, grubs, jigs, and thanks to Al i've been mixing in a lot of top water. The Ned can be a blast when it comes to numbers and though i haven't caught anything big on it there's a lot of people who have. I see the value in learning many different techniques and building confidence in a variety of baits as that will only make you an even better fishermen. I do feel that a lot of people maybe pigeon holed with the Ned but honestly that has no bearing on me or my fishing as to me its just another tool in the ol proverbial tool box. I am a fan of the jig heads i picked up and have used it with a few other small baits, mostly hellgrammite and centipedes but from what i gather if the bait isn't a senko style plastic then you may not be fishing the Ned ( i guess it depends who you're asking).
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted July 2, 2015 Root Admin Posted July 2, 2015 Wait till DD introduces it to Alaska... the forums will be flooded with posts about the Ned catching big rainbows, char and probably even salmon!! Oh my! rps, dtrs5kprs, BilletHead and 1 other 4
Riverwhy Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 I'm headed to Ketchikan the end of July. I hope to post a picture of a big king salmon with a Ned in its top lip.
MOPanfisher Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Don't be afraid to use it in saltwater. Ain't no telling what you might catch.
Old plug Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 You know Chief you can lead a horse to water amd he will not drink. Of course his wise decision might cause him to die of stavation. Same deal here.

vonreed Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 A knifer is somebody who doesn't belong to the organization called PETA. Also known as people who eat meat. Most likely to be using an aluminum boat instead of a huge fancy top of the line fiberglass boat going from post to post and causing controversy.
Chief Grey Bear Posted July 3, 2015 Author Posted July 3, 2015 What are you referring to? I must have missed something. What's a knifer? As Von was saying, a knifer is one that keeps a legal stringer of bass for human consumption.
