196champ Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Fished around Campbell's point 30th - 2nd. On Friday from Campbell's point to point 21 counted 25 floaters mostly nice LM in the 2-4 lb range and 2 big crappie 1.5-2lb. Samething down to point 20, again mostly all LM a few Spots Noticed some on Saturday and Sunday mornings but nothing to the extent of Friday. Was this just me and an isolated event or did anyone else see this?
Sore Thumbs Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 I was in the James today and saw nothing like that.
cheesemaster Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 I was in the James also. Nothing like that at all. Did they have sores on them at all?
Devan S. Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 I saw several floaters between pt. 22 and Big M on Saturday morning. Not nearly as many but might go through an area and see 5 or so then none until you got to another wind blown area.
196champ Posted August 3, 2015 Author Posted August 3, 2015 Not that I could see, couldn't believe the size of the crappie they were huge! All were out in the main lake
GREENTRITON Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Saw several floaters at Aunts creek yesterday, just a few here and there..
Dutch Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 My daughter reported seeing a bunch of floater while boating from Mill Creek to the old bridge below Beaver Lake.
m&m Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 is there a reason for the floaters or is this normal for this time of year?
Bill Babler Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 From Big M to Baxter Last week there were perhaps hundreds of floaters. I dipped or looked at dozens. All were Gizzard Shad. Some approaching 2 pounds. Of all of them that I looked at I never saw a single bass or a single crappie. Not saying folks did not, but I put either my net or eyeball on a very close inspection of the floating fish. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
merc1997 Bo Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 a friend of mine in the big m area was walking the band and noticed several dead gizzard shad, several dead crawdads, and a couple of bass. he was on the south side of the lake across from carter creek. he was telling me that just this morning wondering if i thought that might be why fishing up this way is not too good. bo
