Steve McBasser Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Guys.....I'm planning to fish Table Rock Thursday. Did anybody go the last day or two? I haven't been to the 'Rock for about a month. Just wondering what kind of bite to expect.....
Champ188 Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Steve, we went last Friday. You can see Donna's report on this forum. Am going again Friday.
Ketchup Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Put in yesterday at 4:30pm and fished until just past dark, at 8:30 out of Cape Fair. Theres a reason i dislike this lake, but with tourney in 2 weeks, had to get water time in. I fished points starting with a C-Rigged 4" tube and caught a few short fish. Switched over to a square bill throwing parallel to the bank in 8' of water and caught 2 13" fish. Around 6:30 i moved to another secondary point with same baits, and same situation. Fished a few docks the last hour drop shotting. Again short fish. Good luck. Ive fished the area 3 times in a week with same results. TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. Ketchup Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 abkeenan, thats about how i feel every trip there. I always leave asking, why. mjk, theres things in life that just doesnt fit our style, and TR for me is one of those things. After talking to a few buddies the past few weeks, im glad im not alone in my thinking. Everyone knows the struggles fishermen have there, and this year seems to be a greater struggle. Net month is at Pomme, and i will feel better, so all's good. TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.
196champ Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 caught them last weekend shallow early, main lake points with bushes on pop r after the sun came up scratched a few with a deep crank, majority came on drop shot on or near the bottom 20-35ft main lake bluff ends mainly Campbell Point Area Quillback 1
Members BearFisher10 Posted September 11, 2015 Members Posted September 11, 2015 If you're wanting shear numbers I don't think you can beat a wiggle wart or similar crankbaits in the creek arms right now. I found that out this week. As far as keepers are concerned don't get too ahead of the fish in their transition right now. Some have started to go but not the quality ones, at least in the quantities I'd like to see. They've got plenty of forage out deep still on points, bluff ends, and that sort of deal. Yes I did catch some keepers shallow, but if you come across the right school out deep, the majority will be keepers if you hit them at the right time of the day. Also this is just my opinion of the James River area. The dam area or upper end could be fishing completely different for all I know right now. Quillback 1
