I did not know this, but it looks as if we have fresh water jellyfish in many of the lakes in this region.  They are an invasive (from China), but fortunately appear to be harmless.  USGS map shows them being in Beaver, Taney, and Bull Shoals, you'd think in that case they would also be in Table Rock.

I have seen them in Pomme De Terre for over 20 years.

I first saw them in Table Rock during the MO BASS state tournament a few years ago. The boater I drew out with was a local who had been fishing there for decades, and told me he had never even noticed them before. When I commented that we were passing through a school of jellyfish, he thought I was kidding. At the next year's state tournament, I also saw them in LOZ, and by coincidence, I had drawn out with the same boater. It seems they tend to hang near the surface this time of year.

I wonder what effect they may have on the plankton communities in those lake systems. I haven't heard much about them like I have for other invasives, Quagga and zebra mussels, Bythotrephes sp., etc., that do adversely affect the biological communities.

My first encounter with them was lake leatherwood outside of Eureka Springs. Fishing at night, i saw them when I shined the water with my head light.

My brother apparently had seen them diving in Table Rock  (he worked with the state park marina for a few years)

Odd that everyone else has seen them because I have never seen or heard of these before.
