Seth Posted September 30, 2015 Author Posted September 30, 2015 I wish I was but I will not be down there... A 1/2 oz jig with a beaver trailer, a buzzbait, or a big swimbait is about all I'd be throwing. Maybe a full size brush hog as well. Good luck and look forward to the report and some pictures! You, me and everybody else is probably thinking that lol. Just got a couple swimbaits in the mail today. Never tried one but figure this would be a good weekend to give them a whirl. marcus and MOsmallies 2
Old plug Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I think they have shut down the bare foot bar and coconuts for the season. Not sure coconuts is not open on the weekends still. That along with the cooler weather should make the boating easier. i might sound like a broken record but be careful we had a guy killed last weekend in a bass boat. He turned the wrong way to a avoid a collision. Wrong way driving is common around here. As far as wakes go. I own a big old deep 18 1/2 fr Targa that has a lot of freeboard. Some of this stuff will roll that Targa at a 45 degree angle. and it can be a violent ride. Three guys were thrown out of a tracker about a month ago by a wake. I suspect with the cool weather coming in a lot of them will be staying home. Water temperature off Coffmans Beath was 80 yesterday at the bottom of my trolling motor. Bit warm for this time of year. All my fishing this week has confined to 2 periods covering 31/2 hours . Nothing to do with bass. I was deep jigging a spoon and shad combination for Hybrids. and heavy catfish . Neither of witch I caught. Daryk Campbell Sr 1
Blazerman Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Yep I will be there again. I have fished it a few times and all it takes is one good one to get your money back. And like everyone else, i am thinking maybe the fishing gods will look down on me and say ok it's his turn and allow me to catch a big bass for big bucks. i have fished the lake a few times lately and it has been hit and miss. But i don't think it will matter much because this cool front coming in will change the game by this weekend and what worked last weekend won't matter. Like every other time though, enough people are throwing enough baits in front of enough bass that decide to bite so that all 20 spots pay out money every two hours and and three people will win big money.
Old plug Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 While the rest of the state has been getting a bit of rain we are not really lacking here. I would not be surprised if a lot of the lake is stagnated. That can be tough. Very tough.

Roll that by a dock corner or a over some of those big black rocks on a windy bank and you never know. I bet this thing will be won on a jig though. Someone who is proficient at skipping and flipping a jig under and around shallow boat docks. Seth and dookie65 2
DChance Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I will be there again. This deal it isn't a bad thing to get lucky. just takes one cast. Wrench what shop do you run??? Name/locations?
Blazerman Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 One thing i was thinking is with the Open being down at Table rock this weekend there may be some anglers headed there instead of being at LOZ. I would think you might find some of the better bass anglers fishing the co-angler side of the Open, (or even the Pro side) which would keep them away from the BBB. I not talking pros, since pros can't fish the bbb, i am talking about the good bass guys who fish all over the Midwest every chance they get. Which might leave some fish for guys like me.

Someone who is proficient at skipping and flipping a jig under and around shallow boat docks. That's one skill I haven't mastered yet. I'll have a spinning rig setup for skipping under docks, but my chances of getting a big one out of a pile of dock cables without breaking off is going to much less than if I was using casting gear. I've pulled some fish out of pretty gnarly places with it though, but they were river fish and half the size of what it would take to win money this weekend.
