mic Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Hey all you canoe gods here, what do you think about Old Towns new solo canoe, "Next" http://www.paddlenext.com/
Greasy B Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Looks like a fine boat....if my belly wasn't so big. Deadstream 1 His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. Guest Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Probably too short IMO. Seat looks decent. Doesn't give the specs that really matter. How much is a "subtle" rocker.? Looks to have a keel. You will probably buy something different on the "next" boat.
Al Agnew Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 I haven't paddled one. Reading the reviews, most people seem to like them okay. There were complaints about tracking, especially on the glide when you put the paddle down (like to fish). Complaints about the seat coming loose (there's a fix for it). Complaints about the seat being too low--difficult to get in and out of, and makes it more difficult to use a single blade. On the other hand, lots of people said the seat was very comfortable. I'd have to paddle one to really make a recommendation, but it sounds like a very serviceable canoe...except I'm pretty sure I'd switch out the seat for a bench seat that sits higher.
fishinwrench Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 It wouldn't work (stock) for me. I'd have to move the seat BACK and UP. The hull looks good though.
Gavin Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 A friend of mine has one and she likes it allot. I'd prefer one that is a bit longer 14' minimum and I'd want a higher seat.
Terrierman Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Good solo canoes are 15' boats. IMHO. Solo for me means day trip and also loaded to overnight.
