Quillback Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 It was breezy out there today, fishing was spotty, got a few smallies on a Rapala Shadow Rap, one went about 3 lbs. Caught a couple of Ned fish. Windy banks were the best locations, but tough to fish. Water temp is 62-63. Ranger Z22, kdc and Ham 3
176champion Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Thanks Quill.....I may try to get out Saturday. I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! Bruce Philips
Ham Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Pretty nippy and fairly breezy when I was out in the yard before work. I might have found other stuff that needed doing rather than fish today, but most likely I would have gone anyway. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Champ188 Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Friday will be the tough day ... second day after the front --- high blue and no wind.

Champ188 Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 I'd rather take my chances pitching a finesse jig on boat docks. Just have to make sure you get all the way back to the central walkway on those super bright days with no wind. And you'll catch a lot more fish if you learn to pitch in the gap between the boats and the short walkways. May have to pitch over a lift support or two, but you gotta get em on before you worry about getting them in. Donna G and Ham 2

For the price ill buy one or two...sad that 10 bucks is a cheap lure. Ive always done well with xraps and RC STX for jerk baits just need a hook upgrade, if I werent such a cheapo id get the good ones but i just cant justify it. I actually have 1 lucky craft pointer, and at the lake i fish on my lunch break ive been able to catch em on the xrap, but not the pointer.
Quillback Posted November 13, 2015 Author Posted November 13, 2015 Well the Shadow Rap did catch a few fish, so it seems to work. I didn't think it had a lot of built in action, I had to snap it pretty good, on a bit of slack line, to get some action out of it. I was using the deep version, maybe the shallow runner has more action. It does slowly sink, at least in 62 degree water, when it is colder it may suspend. I'd say it is a bit of a slower sinker than the weightless fluke. Also, I was using 10 lb. Invisx, might suspend on mono. It is one of the few out there (STX is another one) with an Orange Belly, Stain Reaction type color like Megabass has. Tackle Warehouse Black Friday sale is coming up - 20% off this year.
Ham Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 The X rap is not a bad jerk bait, but it aint a cheap bait either. uofastudent 1 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
