Found quite a bit of material referencing the different observed temperature sensitivities of European and North American populations. Few degrees difference is the take home message, with the N. American zebras apparently being acclimated to warmer water.

But I'm with you Sam, it makes sense that if they can survive in Eastern Europe and Russia they can handle regular old USA cold. Maybe not the heat.

I'm not a pro, but I have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express. And I'm pretty sure I can run a hurry up offense with more urgency than the Chiefs showed.

Not to get off track, but what the heck.

Yeah you'd think that with even most colleges able to run a hurry up offense these days, that Reid and the Chiefs would have one up their sleeve, you know, just in case they fall behind late in a playoff game.  Winning 10 in a row, or whatever number it was, must have gone to their heads.

Do you think that Zebra mussels affected the Chief's offense?

I ran one with 3rd and 4th graders. Three color calls- green=same play, same way,  no huddle. Yellow= skills huddle, line gets lined up tackle to tackle. Red= all huddle. Ain't that hard folks, but that is one of the reasons he's not in Philly anymore. That and passing on 3rd and short like Mike Martz.

You guys made me think of that old TV commercial where the player said "If it were not for foot-baw, I would not be playing foot-baw to-day!"  B)

For just a second, a fact in that zebra mussel article seemed encouraging - the part about ZM's suffering a 99% mortality rate in the larva stage.  I liked that real well until I thought about it.  If only one percent of one million eggs survive to adulthood, that's still 10,000 new zebra mussels from each female mussel, each season!

Cold weather shouldn't affect the zebra mussels too much, they will obviously slow down eating and respiring etc.,  freezing will kill them if exposed, don't know if still in water.  Heat likely is harder on them.  Realistically they should be in TR, Stockton and Pomme however none identified yet that I am aware of.
