Either size will work, but for 17" fish and under the smaller one will be better. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
Gavin
1/8oz Kastmaster in silver for rainbows, or the jigs. Rainbows don't like bass sized jerkbaits much, but the brown trout sure do (early or late).Rainbows mid day but the tend to go deep. Be careful on the limestone bedrock...easy to float your hat on that river.
Members Ginnever
Agree with Ham for Spin fishing. If you didn't know..... no rubber baits (or treble hooks) allowed in the Blue Ribbon Section. Avoid treble hooks anywhere on the river please....... they are trout killers! (I've had great success with big fish on sinking minnow stick baits, but I remove the front hooks and cut two of the three hooks off the rear treble..... never missed a fish with this and easy release). Normally I use exactly what he mentioned with a couple of weights 15-18" above the jig to get them deep. You'll get hung up and lose a few, but that's where they are! I caught 5 15+" rainbows, 2 15" Browns and a couple of nice smallies kayaking on the lower section Sunday using mostly the Olive. That's slightly more than 1 fish per lure I lost! About average catch for me the last month or so.
awhuber
Only flies and artificial lures may be used, and soft plastic baits and natural and scented baits are prohibited when fishing for any species. You can use treble hooks if you want they are not prohibited in blue ribbon section. Ginnever
