Rodmaker Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Just received a flyer in the mail tonight stating that Bass Pro Shops will be open all day long on thanksgiving day starting at 8 am! and obviously on black Friday. REI outdoors on the other hand is closed on Thanksgiving AND on black Friday, telling everyone to go take a hike. Sorry, but basspro may have just lost my business. IMHO, I believe that SUCKS! REI will be getting alot more of my business. I will be with my family on Thanksgiving and Friday. I guess you all know where I stand. Thank you for letting me rant and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. God Bless........... Bob. Champ188 1
cheesemaster Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 It doesn't bother me. My parents are coming from Nebraska for Thanksgiving and the Friday after. They asked me if they could go to Bass Pro with my family because they have never been there. I am looking forward to the time with my parents doing whatever they want to do, and at this point it's going through BP on Friday.
Champ188 Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Right on, Bob. Johnny stands strong behind his conviction that nothing in this world is more important than the next dollar. Wonder if he'll be working on Thanksgiving. Or Black Friday? LOL
fishinwrench Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 You're mad because BPS is open ? cheesemaster, BATCAB27 and Riverwhy 3
Hammer time Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 I'm not a big BPS fan and buy all my baits elsewhere but have lived here since 81 and BPS has been open every day of the year except Christmas Day.
wareaglecamo Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 I retired in Springfield but was born, raised, married and raised my kids in west St. Louis County (Ballwin area) . . . from the time REI opened their first store in St. Louis until my wife and I moved to Springfield in 2006, I never found REI to be competitive in their pricing . . . IMO, why be open on Thanksgiving or Black Friday if you refuse to be competitive in your pricing . . . customers will not show up and your employees will be giving up their holidays for nothing . . . while we lived in STL, REI was not where you would go for a good deal:-(
bluebasser86 Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Having been a LEO for almost 10 years now, this year will be the first that I'll have both Thanksgiving and Christmas off. Working holidays is just part of the deal, but I'm compensated well for it. These poor folks having to deal with all that craziness and missing out on family time for 8-10 bucks an hour is just uncalled for, but I know it isn't going away. Nothing I can't live without in their ad anyways.

I'm sure those poor folks were made aware that christmas was the only day BPS was closed when they were hired and accepted it. And I would assume that they are getting time and a half holiday pay as well. Now if Santa has to work there on Thanksgiving thats messed up
Champ188 Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 I can't speak for Rodmaker, but I can say for myself that what's really messed up is that this nation can no longer put aside its greed and relentless pursuit of wealth for a few hours to sit down and be thankful for what God has already provided. Precious things like our health, food on the table, a roof over our heads, family and friends, and most of all, a Savior. Even within my own family, it irks me a bit that the Thanksgiving meal discussion at some point always seems to turn to who is going to be in line at 10 p.m. at Best Buy, Walmart or whatever retail giant is opening its doors at midnight Thursday night. Just seems like an oxymoron for folks to be pushing and shoving, even in rare cases coming to blows, in order to snatch up whatever "great deals" are being offered on Thanksgiving Day. It's a day to be thankful, not greedy! Can't the tomfoolery wait just ONE DAY? evilcatfish, Donna G, dtrs5kprs and 7 others 10
