WeekendWarrior Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 i would have liked to be out there today and see if my pattern was working with the a-rig in the wind but no can do, Doctor says no fishing for a month after having a heart attack and having stent put in Saturday so we will have to sit it out for a while. At least I got out of putting up all the Xmas lights ?
196champ Posted December 11, 2015 Author Posted December 11, 2015 Holy smokes! Hope everything goes well and you back on the water soon!
fishinwrench Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Yikes warrior, sorry to hear that, man. I don't think you're missing much, they are trying to drain Truman down and our levels are doing the backwater up/down/up/down thing. I never do well when that is happening. I can't find the bigger shad either, all of them down this way are the little 2 inchers that don't seem to have grown a bit since Summer.
196champ Posted December 11, 2015 Author Posted December 11, 2015 I may have my table rock mind set here but does anyone ever go out deep and spoon/drop shot?

Dock owners get all freaked out when a hunter trys to retrieve a injured bird. They call the sheriff and say "there are two armed men poking around my dock" and the law comes flying in like a military excersize. Trust me it'll ruin your day. I have a good retrieving a cripple story. We were hunting Truman up the grand arm one season about 20 years ago. My brother crippled a drake mallard and got out of the boat blind to go find it. He couldn't find it, but on his way back, we saw him squat down. When we looked up in the sky, there were probably 200 mallards funneling in to us, we couldn't see them because they came in from behind. My brother was watching this unfold from about 75 yards away. He said one drake was very smart and stayed back.....about 40 yards away from the others. But what the drake didn't know was that my brother was right next to him. My brother shot him and got his first banded duck. The duck was 10 years old according to the records, and was banded in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Canada. He still wears the band on his call lanyard to this day. BilletHead 1 "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor

Shot a banded duck, went to look at the band and saw it was from Japan and from 2001! That's quite the journey.
