I have never been to Taney in January, that being said I don't believe many people ever wanted to fish with o2 levels where they were. I was thinking about coming down a couple of weeks into January.  Didn't know what to expect of course weather will be unpredictable but is there usually a bite then or should I wait a while to make the trek back? Thank you in advance for your help.

Tailwaters are made for winter fishing IMO. Get on it, bring your midge box and you will do well.

The DO is fine now and will be better in January.  Usually it's the best fishing of the year.  Get closer to the time and see what generation is like and that will dictate how you fish.  But it should be very good fishing.

It depends whether they are running water and no one can predict that 100%. That's the risk of fishing tailwaters. Typically, I think you will find wadable water in January, but that could change if we get a big rain.

Even if they are running water, you will be able fish along the bank. This summer I had a lot of fun fishing in high water near the outlets. I even had a 20+ fish morning one of the days, which turned out to be better than when I went in the fall.

For some reason, I don't think it will pay the same.  Mama needs a new pair of shoes, and I need a new rod.

Kansasfly hit me up when you are thinking of going down.  Need to get a January trip booked before the schedule fills up. :)
