Weight is very seasonal. This time of the year and for the nest 3 months we will see our largest of the year.  A hen completely full of eggs is going to have to be over 20 inches and pushing 21.  We had several 19's last year and quite a few at 18 and they were knocking on the 4 pound door.  Sumertime K's would have to be 23 inches to get to that 5 spot.  No pun intended.  That is a very Big Feech.

I caught this one in January along with another one that looked like its twin about 10 minutes afterwards from the same spot. Looks can be deceiving on these fish with estimating weights. This one ended up going 3.42 but I thought it'd hit 4 at first glance. They are just so round and full during the wintertime they look bigger than they are.

By the way, the only reason it was in the livewell is my buddy was trying to show me how to fizz...

Might take some time to dig through the archives here on OAF in the Table Rock forum but I believe 3 or 4 years ago a gentleman posted a pic of his friend that had caught a 6+lb spot on a jerkbait in the late winter/early spring'ish time period. He had it weighed at one of the Marina's and I think it was up in the upper white river if memory serves me correct (probably not). Also during a FLW tournament (back in 2009 I think) Dan Moorehead caught a friggin' 6lb 10oz spot. Toad with a capital T. The 11lb spot caught in Cali a few weeks ago is just unfathomable to me.

That pic of Moorehead shows how spots can be hard to guess too. A "good" one can look huge, and a truly big one can look light. Odd fish. Those springtime 16"-17" fish can surprise you on a scale.
