Not just classical music, but a great mix of choral (something north of 100 in the choir), upbeat takes on classics, some jazz, really fast-paced stuff. It blew us away. JoeD, they had an outstanding piano guy do 'Linus and Lucy' and a medley of other songs from 'Charlie Brown Christmas'. Choir did 'Christmastime is Here'. Sing along, some funny bits too. Did a really cool almost rock and roll take on 'Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy' that was crazy good. Just a helluva show. Now that I would do.
Norm M Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 dunno, maybe this should be in the food forum https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xj-jGAJgZY what a long strange trip it's been , put a dip in your hip, a glide in your stride and come on to the mother ship , the learning never ends
joeD Posted December 21, 2015 Author Posted December 21, 2015 Sounds splendid ness. I like the idea of an accomplished orchestra mixing it up and offering different presentations. Mitch, you are completely incorrect about the gates of hell being locked from the inside. Why do you think there is a "Highway to Hell" and only a "Stairway to Heaven?"
ness Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Found the original 1962 Nutcracker song rock version they based theirs on. Gotta say, they did it faster, longer, louder and just plain better at the Symphony -- but you get the idea from this clip. John

dtrs5kprs Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 The Seth McFarlane "Holiday For Swing" album is shockingly good. Nicely retro, but unique. My wife is our church choir director so we hear a TON of standard Christmas music. We tend to like things that are a little quirky because of that. In no particular order: Campfire Christmas Vol 1- Rend Collective https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mYsVdSB0oc Christmas is for Jesus- Pawn Shop Kings The Dawn of Grace- Sixpence None The Richer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6ml_YbgJsQ Christmas Anthem- Landon Smith and the Real Matt Jones (was free on Amazon for a long time) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qM53egE40iA Good King Wenceslas from How Many Kings album-Down Here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEYdwUb50Tg Christmas in Diverse City- Toby Mac and others Double Happy Christmas- The Notorious MSG https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DC8NSguWIYU&index=2&list=FL_btkJrwfYzxYVQ-547dNQw Merry Flippin' Christmas- Bowling for Soup (esp The Corner Store on Christmas) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LE7WzDxoHw4
