 Honestly IMO he was more negligent than that but, I'm surprised they are even charging him with manslaughter.......poor kid was strapped into a death trap by a cop for operating a boat after getting wasted........obviously both parties should not be out in boats at LOZ..... The kid shouldn't be operating boat at 3 times the legal limit and the highway patrol has no business patrolling in Donzi's when they are this stupid.

No doubt this officer killed that young man. Maybe this is one step toward having a competent water patrol.

Yep it is just a charge. There won't be a trial for another 2+years, so plenty of time for him to retire with a full pension.

I'd say the state wants him free and gone before he can be called as a witness against the state in the upcoming Ellingson vs. MOSHP case, so he won't be doing any lengthy prison time. 

The most jacked up part about this that will never come out is that Brandon really wasn't that wasted.   Less than 30 minutes before he was pulled over he and his buddies were ruling the volleyball games at Coconuts.  How can you be plenty sober enough to win 8 straight rounds of volleyball against some really good players, but be too wasted to drive a darn boat?

Believe me we all out here know about this and know about Piercy. He has a bad attititude and has been a real A H with the pyblic and some of his practices. i watched them take the boys body out of the lake i live about 150 yars from the scene.

I would like to say that charging the officer makes a small start in redeeming the MSHP in my eyes, as by and large I will support LE every time, however I have some serious doubts about this particular charge of manslaughter.  I am not a lawyer and didn't stay at any Holiday Inns recently so I don't know all the legal technicalities, but I fear that the charge of manslaughter instead of negligent homicide is an attempt to ensure that a conviction won't happen, that the evidence won't rise to that level.  I do not know if a jury can say no to the manslaughter charge and reduce it to a lesser one or not.  This case is like a road killed skunk to the MSHP,  every about it leaves behind a stench on them.

I agree with you. This particular officier has a reputaion that spans a pretty good area. He used to be a Laurie Mo cop before he got into the water patrol.
