MOsmallies Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 I've been wanting to build something for my father-in-law for his lake house for several years but I've just never put any of my ideas into action... Until this year. He's had the same live fish basket on his dock since I can remember... It's seen thousands upon thousands of crappie and the elements have finally taken their toll... He has no idea I built him a new one, so hopefully he enjoys it on Christmas and for many years to come! Some old and new pictures... BilletHead, J-Doc and fishinwrench 3
Guest Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 That might be the coolest DIY gift that I've seen. Good job!
Deadstream Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 He is going to love that ! Nice attention to detail !

Surprisingly I've never used it. I need to bring it down to the lake house next summer cause that is the only place I can imagine using it. It holds ice about as good as a sock.
WHARFRAT Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 I like that and probably a winter project for me this year. MOsmallies 1 @lozcrappie

Old plug Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Very well dome my friend. I had one almost exactly like that for years A friend gave me several pieces of steel shorts and I built the one in the picture about 5 or 6 years ago.It is 24"by 30" The top is treated wood rest is 1 1/4 steel angles welded together. It hangs from steel cables in my unused stall attached to a pully and winch as it does not float. I can lower it about 10 ft. Into the water. Keeps the racoons away from it. Believe it or not I have known them to figure out latches. I have had many problems with raccoons.
