Sore Thumbs Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 Those fish are confused in my opinion. I read were someone did great on the white river last Sunday. I put in at Holiday island and really struggled. We took my father in laws boat and he forgot to bring his depth finder so deep fishing was pretty much out of the picture. We tried shallow, deep, docks, flats, points, secondary points, bridge pilings, small coves and big coves. My only guess is they were deep or weren't biting.

Talked to couple other people they said Sunday they caught all they wanted and they went back out yesterday and had zero fish. You likely won't see them, they will be tight to the bottom or cover. If it is bright and calm they won't be chasing anything moving. Wind and clouds, maybe.
Quillback Posted December 23, 2015 Author Posted December 23, 2015 Dtrs is right about what you'll see on the sonar, the fish are on the bottom, hard to pick out especially on the rocky stuff, I did see a few obvious fish a foot or two off the bottom, but most are tough to pick out. 176, are you fishing the Ned at all?

Was trying not to ask the obvious question. Ned, tube, maybe a 4" hula grub, or a 1/8oz hair jig and small trailer would be on the deck at all times now. Keep the fast stuff in the rod box until the wind gets up, and maybe not even then. Something small and boring on a light jika rig might work too, as in a 3" craw. Will be shocked if guys get on an everyday deep bite until the pool and temps drop. Think it will be hit and miss.

Ham Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 QB, your fish needed a piscatorial proctologist. Did you help him out? Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Quillback Posted December 23, 2015 Author Posted December 23, 2015 Ham, I didn't even notice that little thingy until I saw it on the picture, so unfortunately, it is still swimming with it.
Ham Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 most likely part of a crawfish craw. I'm confident everything will work its way out given a little time. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
