I saw this book at the MO state fair. Definitely was not our household this year. For us it might have been "Too many Mushrooms". Still it reminded me of someone. Maybe quite a few years younger than the couple on the cover and maybe a little less hair

A lot less hair and not quite so gray.  You talking to me ? HA!

Plain old grilled hot dogs and tots yesterday. Today though it will be a double batch of fragrant Sichuan  Duck :) . You fellows have no idea how good this is.

    Thought i would share again,

So maybe this is why I had a good tomato season? If you all remember I had some long lanky tomato starts. So long I had to plant them two to three foot deep with just the tops of the plant showing. So when cleaning up and pulling plants I thought you may all want to check out these roots,

I have never had a root system like this before on a tomato plant. They were over four feet long and actually coiled around the bottom of the tubs.

Helps when you have actual soil.  Mine would look they hit a brick wall.

It seems like these are very likely to be the end of our ripe large tomatoes. Neither my wife or myself remember the variety of the little orange tomato. Two lemon boys and not the bottom of the barrel, a Cherokee purple. Still have a few cherries that are ripening.

That is exactly why we use raised beds and mineral molasses tubs. Lettuce is sprouting!

I need to be working up a patch to plan turnips and fall greens, but my son went off to college, and suddenly I am sup posed to keep up with brush hogging, yard mowing, weed eating (at my house and at church).  Apples are too numerous to think about, if I weren't so lazy I would dig out a rusty cider press and try to make cider.  How do people live without sons around to be slave labor.
