Quillback Posted March 9, 2016 Author Posted March 9, 2016 I did not go, weather was so nice here, I went fishing myself. Hated missing the Expo, but no regrets.
5bites Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 My boys and I watched Randy Howell Friday afternoon then we all went to the expo Saturday. It was a good time. ollie 1
Ketchup Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 Hey 5, I'm watching the Classic as I type this. That area that Evers won it, is that on the upper end of the lake? Thinking of making a trip over there in the next 2 weeks. Any info would be great. Thanks TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.

Basstrak map didn't show exactly where because he was in shotty cell coverage areas. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Ketchup Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 They say it's a pretty popular community hole, with lots of tourneys won in that area. Just wondered if that area is on the side of the lake I need to launch from coming from Mo. TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.
Quillback Posted March 21, 2016 Author Posted March 21, 2016 Ketchup, you could launch at the big public ramp which is right outside of Grove. To the mouth of the Elk from there you'd have about a 5-7 mile run. I heard that it took Edwin a 1/2 hour to get to his spot from Grove. I also heard that Edwin damaged his prop on the last day up there, so watch out, lots of wood up there and it is shallow - I have not been up there myself, BTW. This resort is on the lower Elk, they say they have a ramp you can launch at for $5. I'd call them to verify, but it would save you some time if you can launch there. http://www.bluebluffharbor.com/ Personally, I would not go fish that spot, it is going to get hammered, plenty of other places to fish on the main lake.
Devan S. Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 If you turn down 10 highway and head down E260 Rd. there is a small boat ramp that will put you quite a ways up the elk across from the island. (either right before or right after dollar general depending on which direction your coming from) Like Quillback said its very shallow all throughout that area and logs and stumps all over that area.
ollie Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 There used to be an old bridge that was under water as well. I'm not sure that is still there though. When we were kids I remember having to get out of the boat a couple of times and walk through a sand bar just to get through in some parts. Also remember seeing a guy go full force and take on that bridge. We had to tow him back to the ramp. He lost his lower half of the unit. There is also a ramp right next to the Hwy 10 bridge or at least there used to be. Ketchup Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 Thanks for the info guys. Really appreciate it. I believe I'm going to make the trip a week from this Friday. Quill, I believe there are a lot of other, maybe even better areas of that lake,Mitch the same quality of fish, but seeing that structure in that area on TV, just made me want to go. I love some visible structure. TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.
