Went to Lake 28 Sat. and caught one on the dam with an olive woolly bugger on my 6 wt.  Had a couple other hits, and was only there for about an hour.  Could have caught more if we stayed longer but my son wanted to try Lake 21, where we had no luck at all.  Water was murky and high, didn't see any splashing on the surface like you usually do.  Bait users may have cleaned 21 out, there were at least two or three there when we were there siting on buckets waiting for a bite

My fav trout recipe.....Preheat oven.  butter, salt, pepper, wrap in foil....place trout fish side down in trash can/dog bowl.  Go catch crappie, fillet, bread, fry, salt.  YUM!!!!  This recipe is also great for salmon, and white bass, as well as a variety of ducks and geese.

I can somewhat agree with you.  White bass, ducks, geese, Lake Trout, local rainbow trout....... Definitely not my favorite, and don't care if I ever taste them again.

Disagree with Salmon.  Personally, up there close to the top (but not the top)..

As far as trout go, I remember having some for the first time years ago that were caught at one of our trout parks, and I thought .... bleeeech!

But I've had some from the northwest, cooked the same way that was tasty!   Went back to local trout park fish and  .... bleeeech!   Don't know why such a big difference!

The only way to eat ducks and geese, throw them all together in a sausage pile and cut it 10% duck/goose with anything else.   Had a friend make jerky one time... awful.

   Well then!

If you are cooking the heck out of your ducks I am afraid to tell you, well not really afraid but you are doing it all wrong. Too done guys. As far as geese I could cook you fajitas out of canada goose that would make you salivate craving for more. Oh well just don't bother with shooting them any more and send them to my part of the state :). Sorry Marcus your post went from trout to ducks and geese. Go get them young man!

I don't have any experience eating duck, but if it is like most things then you just have to know how to cook it right to make it taste good. If you don't like deer then you probably over cooked it! :o

Ok anyone that would like me to gift them a goose breast? You could gift me a ribeye back? We cannot trade that would be illegal.  Yea I did not think so :). Geese are grass and grain fed, they poop all over too like a fat steer too.

I'm sorry.

We absolutely derailed this thread.

I forgot it was even about actually catching fish and not something in the food section. My apologies for contributing to this derailment. I'm not usually one to do that.
