So, I read an article on Lake News Online about raising the length limit on Crappie from 9" to 10".

Is this something in the works with MDC, or is this just idle chit-chat because they don't really have much "outdoors" news to write about this time of the year?

not sure but its most common at other lakes so wouldnt be suprised, but if there is an abundance then the 1in  probably wouldnt make much difference.

I fish pomme alot of times and they have a 9in length but seems very rarely i ever have to measure unless its in the spring otherwise most fish i catch are over 10in easily

I don't keep any under 10 anyway...LOZ has enough fish it is not necessary.  I have not heard this elsewhere though.

I do not keep but a few throughout the year I would be doing the sne as wrench. I have seen summer people tke anything and everything they can get.

I don't keep them under 10" mainly because a 9" isn't worth filleting to me,   but I'm not in favor of them changing the min.length limit.    There's already too many crappie already, no sense in regulating for more.

Let the folks that want to keep the little ones continue to do so.

If they are in the mood for regulation changes I can think of several that would be way more beneficial to the LO fishery than the min.crappie length.

Depends on where I am fishing what I am willing to keep. I believe more lakes are 9 in minimum than are 10 inch.  Some years 10 and above are everywhere, other years you have to sort a lot 8 7/8 fish to get a 9.  I agree with not changing the min length, and this is the only mention of it I have heard so I think it is just winter kibbetzing.

If they change the length limit here I assume they will do the same on Truman ?    Whatever.

Seems a better change would be to adjust the limit from 15 to 10.    Enough bags of freezer burned crappie get tossed or fed to the cats already.  Everyone stockpiles more than they can truly eat and possession limits are grossly ignored.

from the article it sounds like something Greg is doing some research but no actual action being proposed at this point.

I think he's just trying to appear busy, justifying his job.....which is fine.   This is how things get screwed up,  though I doubt changing a crappie reg would hurt or change anything noticeably.
