Members justfishing Posted January 25, 2016 Members Posted January 25, 2016 Have a 2009 Pro Crafft 210DC with 225 Opti Max. Is there anybody out there running same boat and if so whats Your set up?? Been running four blade 23 pitch and motor at 3 and half inches below boat pad, Trying to get a little more top end speed, Put on three blade 26 pitch and motor 3 inches below pad. Boat came out of hole pretty good, RPM's came down from 5800 RPM's to 5400 RPM's at wide open throttle and ran a little slower ( but got to keep in mind water was a little rough yesterday ) Guy that was watching boat run said had tall rooster tail and really kicking out. Any ideas of what I can do to be able to run three blade? Also when letting off quickly boat really had bad torque steering, I am thinking about dropping motor back down some but I know when i do that I am will lose more RPM's. Any thoughts????
mixermarkb Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 My gut says that hull won't run 3" under pad- it's pretty much the viper/cobra storie tweaked 400 series ranger. I'd drop the motor back to 3.5" or maybe even 3.75" and try a 25" tempest and see where the RPM's land. You want rooster less than cowl height of the motor at WFO, full trim. A set of trim extenders may be worth playing with as well, but it sounds like the 26" is a shade too much prop, and won't rev unless it's over trimmed and slipping. Also might be worth cleaning out the front storage lockers. Every pound in front of the consoles matters as far as top end and fuel economy. Fish24/7 1
176champion Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 If you have a high rooster tail ..motor is to high...rooster tail should be no higher than top of the motor cowling....also different brand props run different depths or prop to pad. mixermarkb Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Not to be too much of a smart butt, but if you are looking for any more top end than 70 with a light load and cool water, best setup is gonna be 3.5" below the bumper and haul it to a dealer and trade it in. That hull is made for comfort, it's just not gonna be much more that a mid 60's rig loaded to fish- what's the top end as it sits with the 23 four blade?

Members justfishing Posted January 25, 2016 Author Members Posted January 25, 2016 I have a 10 inch jack plate on boat, 4 blade I can get 68 to 70 mph out of it with motor at 3.5 below pad. The three blade with 3 inch below got 65 mph out of it but the drop in rpm's i don't like, I did try a 25 pitch three blade and blew it out coming out of hole. Some of the readings sounds like maybe i need to just go back to 4 blade and call it good. I will check on bassboatcentral and see what feed back I get. Thanks guys
fishinwrench Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I'd rig the cav.plate 2" below the pad initially.... and go UP from there. 24p 3 blade.
mixermarkb Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 You aren't very far off at 68-70. Maybe can get you to 72ish by trying different props, but it's all a balancing act. Sometimes the best top end prop will blow out on the holeshot if you don't feather the throttle. Try a few different things and see, just remember that if you set up empty for top end this time of year, you are gonna have a dog getting out of the hole in July with a buddy and water in the live wells.
Sore Thumbs Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 I've yet to see someone catch a fish going 70mph. Ha cheesemaster and shark bait 2
Members slowbait Posted January 26, 2016 Members Posted January 26, 2016 if you are blowing out coming out of the hole with a three blade, either drop the motor or put in a few plugs. If set up right the 3 blade should be faster than the 4 blade is what i have been told. On my boat a 3 blade outruns a 4 blade if same pitch.
