Ham Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Given the high number of sailboat on Stockton, I have no doubt it gets windy. I'm sure it gets rough, but you have to see Rayburn on a bad day to understand. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

He has family around there. We will be in their boats. I was told I didn't need to bring anything but I'm not leaving without my own equipment. Should be interesting. All I know is it has a lot of trees and they get big there. The spawn should be on the second half by then I'd think. I wish it were possible to go the second week of March. Anyone have any advice to offer? I hope you text me lots of pictures. I absolutely abhor driving or riding in any vehicle left for more than 20 minutes at a time (too many years in race cars growing up), but my buddy talked me into fishing Fork Mid-May this year. I hope you send me enough pictures to get my spirits up about that dang 5 or 6 hour drive! 5bites 1
Champ188 Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Donna and I broke in the Z119 three years ago with a 5-mile ride through 6-7 footers on Eufala in Oklahoma. At least there was no timber in this area so you could quarter them one direction for awhile and then switch to the other direction rather than try to ride straight downwind with a following sea. We only speared one and that was the fault of the numbnuts behind the wheel and not the boat. Best ride you could ever ask for in a 19-8 boat.

I always loved the feeling when realized you pushed it just a little too far and you are about to stab one or come down really hard. If you are patient and calm (I am not) then it's not a problem. Not much fun. I was probably 24 or 25 when me and a buddy fished a tournament out of State Park Marina on Stockton. I was going to run all the way up the Sac river around Birch creek. I knew the wind was blowing and the side the marina is on looked rough but wasn't horrible. I came around the point heading south and holy crap I was all of a sudden in the middle of the ocean. Somehow I got right out in the middle of it and rode those waves south. IF you live, you learn. Champ188 1

Fortunately I only need to bring gear and ride in one of their boats. We are staying in a camping trailer they have down there so lodging is free. Hard to beat that deal. jolicious 1
