Members littlejasper Posted January 30, 2016 Author Members Posted January 30, 2016 It's been over a month and the Corps has done very little. Have spoken to their office and they are waiting on "government contracts". We all know what that means. They want to include in the contract the cleanup of the entire campground and the boat ramp combined. Get the ramp clear! I told them to just get a backhoe down there so you could get to the ramp. Unbelievably, the Corps owns no such machine. Would like forum members to call on Monday and "nudge" them along. We pay for the use of these ramps and a month is a reasonable time to get it accessible again. Phone for Corps: 501-340-1935 or 501-340-1932.
MOPanfisher Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 The COE at TR doesn't have a back hoe or much equipment at all, so it has to be by a contract. If the contract is over a certain amount (in this case I think the ceiling is $2500) it has to go to contracting office, where it will have boilerplate clauses added, advertised and eventually awarded. It's not a simple, cheap or fast process, so it makes to get as much bang for the buck as possible by combining the ramp into the whole park for clean up. We have to play by the same rules, however we are lucky enough to still have some equipment and a small maint crew to operate it. No making excuses, just explaining.
dtrs5kprs Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 And folks wonder why some of us would like a smaller, more efficient government. Picture says it all. Hunter53, big c, tho1mas and 3 others 6

Sam Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 I've got a Kubota tractor with front-end loader that I trailer all over the place. I bet others here have similar rigs, including many who live closer to the lake. It wouldn't take long to move that mess aside enough to make the ramp usable, then the Corps could haul the debris off and do a full cleanup whenever they finally get around to it. But boy, I'd be afraid to do it. Bureaucracy, rules and regs - I betcha they'd have a hissy fit, claim you caused some kind of damage, and find some violation to cite you for. That's government - they've got good jobs, won't get the work done when it should be done to keep up services to the public, but won't let anybody else do it either. Just sayin'. dtrs5kprs and abkeenan 2
