I now have braid on all my spinning reels. I love it even for light tackle, but I tie a leader on, it doesn't really matter what kind of leader, for different applications I use different things. 6# p line green in the creeks and 10-12# flouro carbon on the lake.

I tie it in with a double uniknot then reel it up near the reel so my leader is about twice the length of the pole. This give me plenty of chances to tie on before I have to retie a leader. Always keep braided line scissors with you.

Buy good braid that is slick, I like power pro, or spider wire. Both bands are have some kind of coating that seems to make them more smooth, I am sure every band has something about the same. When I first began this braid journey, I thought I would save some money and go with academy brand all I can say is don't do it, it is strong enough, but it is like a dang saw going though the eyes of a fishing rod.

I try to store my rods out of direct sunlight this seems to make the line last longer. My trolling poles have had the same line on them for a year, when I used something other than braid (for trolling) I would have to change it every other trip.

Sensitivity is awesome, castiblity is fair, but you get used to it. It casts better when wet.

So far so good, all my poles have it.

i get along fine with power pro, spider wire or stren braid.  i DO NOT use a leader, and i use 10/2 or 15/ 4 for crappie and fishing finesse applications.  i go down to the 10/2 when using stuff down in the 1/16 size or when the wind is really blowing.

if a fish is put off by your line, then what about your hook, split rings, brush guards, and every other phony thing about any lure??  the a- rig with all of its big heavy wires, big barrel swivels, and 80 lb. test braid pretty much says it all to me.  but, if "invisible line" give you confidence, then stick with what works for you.

See, we do think alike. To me that is as spot on as can be.

Well I wasn't going to mention that I didn't agree with you line choices. I thought since we had made such great progress I would let that slip by and keep things smooth. :D

Braid and nanofil can have issues when it is cold enough for ice to form on your reel.

So do my hands and face. Sometimes there are better things to do than fish ;).

Lol, light weight. The one day in January my finger would freeze to the spool after I used it to apply to brakes to a spinning reel cast. I was really confused as to what was happening to me. I would have to purposely pull back with the finger to get the finger off the spool.

It eventually warmed up to near freezing and that stopped happening. Kinda a tough day to be out there. Wind gusting to 15 mph made boat control a female dog and chilled me to the bone. I really wanted to make it to 50 fish, but the trout boat floor was getting really slick with ice and I was afraid I was going to fall out of the boat.

Plenty of fun if you are 20 or so.

There is no limit to the stupid things I would do if I was 20. This was like 3 weeks ago. I'm 53. And Cajun angler hates on me for being "cold natured".
