Walleyedmike Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 I troll with Flicker Shads a lot. The purple Tiger and Chartreuse are usually the colors I start with. As far as lure retrievers, I have one that slides down the fishing line with the chains hanging on it. I upgraded the chord as many have. I was talking to a guy at the ramp one day and saw that he strung his retriever chord around a marker buoy so it could be retrieved if he dropped it. Looked like a good idea to me so I did the same thing. It's amazing what you can learn by chatting with other fishermen at the dock! WM dan hufferd and slab slinger 2

WM You can also learn a lot by talking to "Superhero Walleye Hunter" like you Mike ! I found some jumbo chub on the creek, I think I will try some on Pomme this weekend. It's good to see a post from you ! Walleyedmike 1
Walleyedmike Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Lol! You've got me figured out Dan. I am a walleye hunter, and hope to someday be a consistent walleye catcher! Can't wait for spring to get here so I can open the camper and get at it! Hope to meet up with you on the lake some day so we can compare notes. WM
slab slinger Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 You guys are on it with the flicks. They are a great bait for trolling. I mainly crappie fish and don't utilize trolling for much of the year but when I do I usually always pull flicker shad. For me there's not a better way to catch big slabs post spawn than long lining crank baits. I do spider rig suspended open water crappie some but pulling cranks is more productive with the reaction bite for me. Size 7 purple tiger on 10lb braid works May-June for me on suspended crappie. Wanting to extend my trolling times of year But I can't seem to put down the jig rod for to long. Thanks for info good topic. Tater and dan hufferd 2

Another good thing about the #7 flickers is that you rarely catch a sub legal crappie on them. Last year at Bull we trolled them and pretty much all we caught was 12" and bigger crappie, i think i only had to measure one all of last winter

My wife and I are hopefully going to do a little exploring this year maybe we can find a place in between each other to fish. Then we can tag team those toothy critters. Have a great weekend Mike
Members cabinman Posted February 19, 2016 Members Posted February 19, 2016 I been sending the hound dog down after my cranks before bass pro and you can put chains on the nose but I haven't found it necessary. The Hound Dog Lure Retriever even retrieves live bait rigs, as the design permits it to slip past sinkers, harnesses, and swivels. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Jewel_Bait_Hound_Dog_Lure_Retriever/descpage-JBHDLR.html Ham 1
