Your doing something here I commend you for. Your fishing out of the box and expeimenting. I was told many many years ago learn to use your baits. That in the right hands a good angker could catch fish on yourgrandfathers false teeth. I have no doubt about that. Rigged right.

Never had much luck on either. No doubt they'd work, just haven't been anything special for me. Still carry some and occasionally give them their shot to prove themselves, hasn't really happened yet though. So many of the lakes around me have zebra mussels anymore it won't be long before I can't throw a bait that touches the bottom, be faster to just take the bait straight out of the box and throw it into the lake.

I am surprised you've not had luck with either...I could be happy with just those two crank baits for their depth ranges, with a few others added in, of course.  But it probably is a confidence thing-- I know that both have done well for me in the past, and I expect they will do so in the future.
