Quillback Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 So the forecast calls for "Showers in the evening" today. I launched at about 0730, and 10 minutes after I started fishing, the rain started, and it rained just about all day. Even got a nice shower of ice pellets at one point. But it was a good day for the Ned bite, caught close to 25, nothing big enough to hang over the fireplace, but a few keepers came to the boat. Got spots, LM's, smallies, and a meanmouth for a Babler slam. Mostly shallow fish, out in front of the buck brush or off chunky banks. I got a couple casting a drop shot with a Yamamoto Shad Shape Worm, broke it off on a snag and went back to the Ned, but I believe it would've worked for some more fish. Water temps were 51-53, water still stained green. grizwilson, Donna G, huntest and 3 others 6
m&m Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 Quill, thanks for the report. Sounds like a decent day of fishing in spite of the weather. From tee shirts one day to ice pellets the next day. Boy you really gotta like spring time weather in the Ozarks. Mike Quillback 1
bluebasser86 Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 Sounds like a nice day. I was out here in NE Kansas and it snowed so hard for about 2 hours straight that I could barely see the bank. Fish were biting steadily all through the mess though. Was actually glad when it started snowing because it was raining for the first 2 hours. That snow is much more tolerable than a freezing cold rain and wind. Champ188, Quillback, dtrs5kprs and 1 other 4
bluebasser86 Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 One of our fish from Friday with just a bit of snow falling in the background to give an idea of the mess we were fishing in. Poor guys fishing with me came down from Omaha to try to get away from the cold

Mission accomplished. bluebasser86 1 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Quillback Posted March 21, 2016 Author Posted March 21, 2016 Catching those smallies will warm you up. Look at the tail on that one, I bet it was a hard fighter. bluebasser86 1
Macsimus Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 Way to go on the slam, QB! I'm glad to hear the Ned action is picking up. "There was a time that I didn't fish, but I cannot remember it."
